I have been an outdoor enthusiast for a long time. I began hunting with my father at an early age.
I was given a Stevens 12 gauge dbl barrel on my 13th birthday which I took my first deer with. I hunted quail, ducks, dove and I fished every chance I got.
About 7 or 8 years ago I was introduced to turkey hunting. I had a little piece of land that I deer hunted on and I figured as long as I had the land I might as well get the most of it so I went to a local sporting good store and bought a slate pot call and learned to make a few calls with it and headed out one morning. Within 30 minutes I had two mature longbeards nearly run me over and I was hooked. What really interested me was the interaction of the hunt, the setup the calling the waiting. Killing the bird was the icing on the cake.
So I set out to build my own pot calls and add that to the interaction if you will. So that is a little bit about me and how I got into hunting turkeys and making calls that I hope will add to your harvest of longbeards.
